A Note from Sarah:
I have known of Kaye for years since we are located in the same state and profession but we never connected until recently where we met in the hallway of a technology conference in Wisconsin. I felt like Kaye and I had known one another for years during this interview. Kaye’s story has personal meaning to me.
I sat vigil with my aunt and was present when she took her last breath on this earth after fighting her own battle with breast cancer. My sister and I used to participate every year in the Race for the Cure at the Mall of America in MN long before breast cancer was an experience in our lives with our loved ones. Once it was with my aunt, the experience became a family event and created a community of support for us all. The last time we participated was in memory of our cousin who had been at our side for years at those events until she lost her own battle to the beast in December 2012. It still hurts, that loss.
Kaye’s story resonates deeply and personally with me as I consider the statistic she shares that 1 in 7 women will have to channel their own inner warrior princess as Kaye has done. I am inspired by her spirit and am grateful she chose to share her story with us and know her message will land well.
Blessings,
Sarah
